Collection Appreciation

This bowl, an imperial blue-and-white and iron-red glazed dragon-pattern vessel from the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, features a refined shape with flared rim and curved belly. The porcelain body and glaze are lustrous, with gold trim along the rim. The exterior is decorated in overglaze iron-red with a five-clawed dragon motif, its scales meticulously rendered and expression fierce; underglaze blue depicts flame patterns with deep, stable coloring, creating a harmonious contrast between blue and red in a balanced composition. The base bears the six-character seal inscription "Da Qing Qian Nian Zhi" (Made during the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing) in regular script, executed with precision. By the Qianlong period, the blue-and-white and iron-red technique had reached perfection. This piece combines imperial grandeur with exceptional craftsmanship, representing a rare treasure of Qing imperial kilns and holding significant collectible value.
