<p>The Xianglin Temple "Wash the Heart" Giant Celadon-White Glazed Hand-Washing Bowl is a monumental ceramic vessel specially commissioned for religious display. Weighing over 150 kg, its creation demanded exceptional craftsmanship. The bowl was hand-thrown on a wheel, featuring uniform concentric marks on the interior and raised relief characters reading "Wash the Heart" on the exterior. The base bears the inscription "Xianglin Temple," marking it as a sacred ritual object used by devotees to cleanse their hands and calm their minds before offering incense. Coated in a lustrous celadon-white glaze using an ancient spray-firing technique, it was fired at temperatures exceeding 1400°C. Remarkably, this large-scale piece remains perfectly intact, free from warping or cracking—a rarity given the high failure rate of such massive ceramics during firing.
